About Us

Our Mission: Through compassion, collaboration, and respect, our mission is to empower individuals of all abilities to reach their full potential while enriching the broader community through inclusion and shared growth.

Welcome to Stomping Ground Ventures, Inc.

At Stomping Ground Adult Day Services (our first venture), we empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to lead more meaningful, self-determined lives within their communities. Our unique day program serves participants primarily from Wilson County, but welcomes those with IDD from Karnes, Guadalupe, Atascosa and southern Bexar County, Texas—just 30 minutes from San Antonio and the surrounding counties—in the peaceful setting of rural Wilson County.

Founded by Susan Schwartz, a healthcare professional and parent of an adult with IDD, Stomping Ground Ventures was built on the belief that everyone deserves purpose, connection, and opportunity. Susan’s firsthand experience fuels her passion to create enriching, inclusive spaces where individuals thrive.

Our day program offers more than just a place to be—it’s a place to grow. Participants aged 18 to 50 enjoy a supportive environment where they can build friendships, learn life skills, prepare for future work opportunities, and connect with the world around them. For many, it’s a welcome break from the isolation of staying at home—and a step toward greater independence.

Susan Schwartz, Executive Director of Stomping Ground Adult Day Services, is a U.S. Army veteran, licensed healthcare professional, and parent of an adult with intellectual differences. Motivated by the lack of services available in rural Wilson County, Texas, for her own daughter, Susan founded Stomping Ground Ventures, Inc in February 2020. Her passion lies in creating a welcoming, home-like environment where participants can learn life skills, build confidence, and enjoy meaningful opportunities in a fun and supportive setting.

Program Fees & Community Support

At Stomping Ground Adult Day Services, we charge a modest daily fee to help provide meaningful, enriching experiences for each participant. These fees support our ability to deliver personalized learning, skill-building activities, and community engagement in a welcoming, home-like environment.

Fee Structure:

  • $30.00 per day Paid in full on the first Tuesday of each month
  • $40.00 per day Drop-in rate (subject to availability)

These fees help cover a portion of our operational costs, allowing us to offer engaging programming while maintaining affordability for families.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we also rely on:

Generosity of our Board of Directors, donations from individual supporters, contributions from community sponsors, in-kind donations, fund raisers and grants.

Sales of handmade products created by our participants are sold at local market/stores, custom orders and by appointment.

Your support, whether through program fees, donations, or purchases directly impacts the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental differences, helping us create opportunities for growth, connection, and independence.
